Constructed in late 18th century the Castle (Garh) of Jhalamand is situated just on the outskirts of Jodhpur on the Udaipur - Ahmedabad highway, surrounded by village Jhalamand. The family belongs to the Sisodia clan of Mewar (Udaipur) and shifted to Marwar (Jodhpur) in mid 18th century. They are the descendents of the famous warrior Maharana Pratap of Chittor Garh (Mewar). The Jagir of Jhalamand was granted to Thakur Gambhir Singhji Sahib for outstanding services rendered to the Jodhpur state. This gives a unique blend to the property, as it combines the best of both cultures - the architectural brilliance of Mewar coupled with the unmatchable traditional hospitality of Marwar. Recognised as a member of the Heritage Hotels Association in India, Jhalamand Garh offers a highly personalised service as it is run and managed by the Jhalamand family itself.
